Choosing commands by using the mouse

This section gives basic information about using the mouse and describes the mouse pointer shapes.  If you're new to Resort Executive and using the mouse for the first time, you may want some "hands-on" practice.

NOTE: If your mouse has more than one mouse button, use the left mouse button unless specifically told otherwise.

Pointing, Clicking and Dragging

The following explains the basic terms associated with using the mouse.

To point - position the pointer on an item.

To click - point to an item and then quickly press and release the mouse button.

To drag - point to an item and then press and hold your mouse button. Move the cursor over to the point you would like to drag the item to and then release the mouse button.

To double click - point to an item and then quickly press and release the mouse button twice.

Mouse Pointer Shapes

The mouse pointer changes shape, depending on what you're pointing to or the task you're working on.  For example, when you click text, the pointer looks like an I-beam.  When you point to a menu or toolbar, the pointer becomes a left-pointing arrow.  If the pointer isn't right for the task you're doing, just move the mouse or press ESC to restore the pointer to its usual shape.
