Importing Data

Data can be imported into a Resort Chef database with the Import Wizard.

Resort Chef can import data from the following types of data sources:

ASCII text files

Chef Master files

Meal Master files

Recipe Exchange Format (RXF) files

Resort Software databases

For more detailed information see the topic on the Import Wizard.

Before launching the import wizard, a dialog will appear asking if you wish to take a database snapshot before importing your data.  (For more information see the topic on database snapshots).  A database snapshot will make a temporary copy of your database as it is before importing anything. Should a problem occur during the import process, you will be able to revert to the database snapshot containing the original database prior to import.  See the following image.

NOTE: The database snapshot will be saved to the same directory containing the database you are taking a snapshot of.  If you do not wish to save the snapshot to this directory, you should cancel the import process and manually perform a database snapshot to save to an alternative directory.  See the topic on database snapshot for more help.

Exporting Data

Data can be exported from a Resort Chef database with the Export Wizard. Resort Chef can export data to the following destination file types:

ASCII text files

HTML files

Recipe Exchange Format (RXF) files

Resort Software databases

For more detailed information see the topic on the Export Wizard.

NOTE: Do not use the Export wizard to backup your data.  Backups should be performed using the Backup program for your operating system.  See the topic on Backing up your data.
